Carlos Carrasco Provides Updates on His Status in Camp

After showing up late to camp, newly acquired Mets pitcher Carlos Carrasco addressed the media on Saturday.

Carrasco was late to camp due to his health history, he said. He had and overcame leukemia in the past, so he was receiving extra medical testing. He confirmed that there were no issues there and that he should be good to go.

Carrasco has also received the COVID-19 vaccine, and said that the shot gave him peace of mind heading into camp.

He does expect to miss his first turn through the Grapefruit League rotation, but he still expects to have enough time to build himself up for the season.

Carrasco, 33, hovered his ERA in the low to mid 3s between 2015 and 2018, and after a 2.91 ERA in 12 starts in 2020, should be a strong building block in the middle of the Mets rotation. He of course was acquired in the blockbuster trade that also landed the Mets Francisco Lindor.

We will keep you updated as more players and manager Luis Rojas speak to the media.
