Mets’ Broadcast Schedule for Spring Training Released

There’s officially light at the end of the off-season tunnel, folks. It’s been great to see the New York Mets going through full-squad workouts in Port St. Lucie over the past few days, but it’ll be even better when they actually start playing games (even if they don’t count yet).

The long wait for New York to suit up for a game will end on Monday, March 1 when they take on the Miami Marlins. And according to a release earlier on Thursday from SNY, it won’t be much longer of a wait before we hear the smooth vocals of Gary Cohen, Keith Hernandez, and Ron Darling during those contests.

SNY’s first spring training broadcast will be on Tuesday, March 2 when the Mets face the Houston Astros. Here’s the rest of the broadcast schedule for the month of March:

It’s a true tease that we get the first broadcast on March 2 and have to wait nearly a full week before getting everyone’s favorite announcing trio back in the booth for their second game of the spring. But hey, beggars can’t be choosers, right? After the initial week, Mets spring training games will be on either SNY or PIX11 at least three times a week leading up to Opening Day on April 1.

There’s a bit of redundancy when it comes to the Mets’ opponents this year, but as it was already reported, that’s on purpose. Grapefruit League action is limited as a precaution for COVID-19 and with Port St. Lucie being located on the Atlantic Coast of Florida, they’ll only play the teams who also have spring training complexes in that part of the state.

Either way, real baseball is getting played next week, and we’ll also be able to invite Gary, Keith, and Ron back into our living rooms. Spring is officially here.
