MLB News: Indians Place Reliever Brad Hand on Waivers

0 5

According to Zack Meisel of The Athletic, the Indians have placed stud reliever Brad Hand on outright waivers.

Meisel notes that the move was done with the intention of declining his $10 million club option if he makes it through waivers. If he is claimed, then the Indians would save the $1 million buyout.

The 30-year-old posted a 2.05 ERA, 1.37 FIP, 0.77 WHIP, and a league leading 16 saves in 2020 for Cleveland. In 22 innings, the lefty allowed only 13 hits, four walks, and 29 strikeouts.

Since the start of the 2016 season, Hand has a 2.70 ERA and 434 strikeouts in 320 innings. During that time, he also has 104 saves and 165 games finished.

One of the Mets needs heading this offseason is upgrading the bullpen, they are 10th on the waiver wire priority list.
