Behind the quick work of Patrick Broughton (Gamertag: FiercePatty), Alex Estep (Gamertag: AlanDander) and Nathaniel Kniess (Gamertag: Crusty), the Shawnee State Hearthstone squad picked up a 3-0 victory over Fort Hays State (Kan.) to move to 1-0 in TESPA Varsity Hearthstone competition.
Using their Demon Hunter against what Hearthstone coach Michael Shilling described as an "aggressive" Face Hunter, SSU outlasted Fort Hays' Face Hunter to win the opening match to set the tone for the evening. The Bears then utilized the versatile Paladin deck to their advantage by blowing out the Face Hunter to win the second match, leading to the deciding third contest.
