Eric Spurgetis finished in a tie for 15th place to lead St. Ambrose to a seventh-place showing at its own NAIA Fall Preview at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.

The tournament, which gives teams a look at the course which will host the 2021 NAIA Men's Golf Championships in May, featured several of the top teams in the country.

And Spurgetis more than held his own, especially with his opening-round 74 Monday, which had him in a tie for sixth place. He slipped back some Tuesday, carding an 80 to finish in a tie for 15th with a 154.

His teammates helped pick up the slack Tuesday. Mick Haverland, Owen Hultman and Reid Calvert each shot a second-round 75 to help the Bees to a 305, the fourth-best team round of the day. Haverland finished with a 160 to tie for 31st overall. Jared Tigges fired a final-round 81 to finish with a 163, good for 37th.

Overall, St. Ambrose finished seventh in the 15-team event and the Bees' final tournament of the fall. SAU shot a 332 on the first day before closing with the 305 for a 637 total.

McGwire Eden and Marty Schwebke led a second SAU team to a ninth-place tie with a 649. Eden shot a 76 and Schwebke fired a 79 Tuesday as each totaled a 159 to tie for 25th.

Reese Garnjobst, Mark Schomer and Hunter Mettille also competed for the second group of Bees.

Evan Baxter, T.J. McDonnell, Gabe Ferlmann, Luke Siebers and Michael Showers played for a third St. Ambrose team.

Indiana Wesleyan's Cameron Luczka was the individual medalist after shooting a 1-over 143. He shot a 3-under 68 Tuesday to win by a single stroke. Point (Ga.) won the team title after back-to-back rounds of 292 gave them a 584 total. Bellevue (Neb.) took second with a 590.
