Reds vs. White Sox, Game 3 - Preview and Lineups

The series is in the balance.

Friday saw the Cincinnati Reds bust out their big bats and thump around the Chicago White Sox. Saturday saw the Sox return the favor.

It’s a three-game series, and today these two will get to hash it out for the final time to determine which has the higher concentration of thumpers.

For the Reds, it’ll be Michael Lorenzen on the mound again, as the starter-turned-reliever-turned-starter will try to bail out the limping Reds rotation again. He was plenty fine in his last outing as a starter, but this White Sox group is no Pittsburgh Pirates. He’ll try to limit the damage in lieu of the injured Sonny Gray and Wade Miley and help the Reds scrap and fight to keep their grasp on a playoff spot.

Chicago, meanwhile, will turn to Dylan Cease, who is a baseball player whose name I recognize to a certain extent. Given that his FIP (5.81), WHIP (1.38), and K/BB (1.36) all look much uglier than his 3.20 ERA, he sure seems like the kind of pitcher who is ripe for some regression, and maybe, just maybe, these Reds can rectify that today.
