Morning N&N for Wed Oct 16, 2019

NLCS Game 4: Nationals 7, Cardinals 4

• Heading to the plate with a 3-0 lead already in the first inning, Yan Gomes got a pitch he liked and smoked it to left field, scoring 2 more runs. 5-0! It was then 7-0 before the first inning was over.

But in the 4th inning of the 4th game of the series, a Washington SP finally gave up an earned run.

Jose Martinez eventually shrunk the lead to 7-4, and that’s where the score stayed. Washington is headed to the first WS in their history.

ALCS Game 3: Astros 4, Yankees 1

• Early in this one, Jose Altuve hit a home run to give Houston a 1-0 lead. Then both teams stranded a million baserunners in innings 1 and 2, which took approximately 9 days to play.

I’m sure a large part of it is his body being worn down over the course of a season, but phew is Edwin Encarnacion bad at the 10th month baseballing.

In the 7th, the Astros added 2 insurance runs with some bad Gary Sanchez catching mixed in. The Yankees finally scored when it was too late, to give this one a final score of 4-1.
