Morning Briefing: Mets Go For Series Split with Giants

On Saturday, the Mets defeated the Giants 11-4. Jeff McNeil, Dominic Smith, Pete Alonso and Todd Frazier all hit home runs. Alonso’s pinch-hit 444-foot three-run homer gave him 75 RBI, the most for a Mets rookie in franchise history.

Walker Lockett earned his first career win, lasting five innings, giving up one run on five hits and collecting three strikeouts.

Today, the Mets face the Giants in the finale of their four game series. Steven Matz will face off against Conner Menez. The game can be seen at 4 p.m. EST and will be on SNY.
