Badminton at ASU 2024 – SOLA Games
Special Olympic athletes from Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Peru, Uruguay, and host Paraguay participated of the 2024 Special Olympics Latin America Games, held in Asuncion, Paraguay, from October 5 to 12.

For the Individual Event of the Badminton Competition, athletes competed in categories based on age and their rating, evaluated during the divisioning day.
In the MS 16-21 event, Damian Gonzalez (CHI), Abraham Arroliga (HON) and Nicolas Rojas (COL) were the gold medalists of the different categories players, while in WS 16-21, Aymara Leon (PAR), Sofia Giro (CRC) and Thanya Gehrman (PAR) won the gold medals. Also in MD 16-21, Juan Rodriguez/Jonathan Tellez (PAR), Damian Gonzalez/Manuel Valenzuela (CHI), and Iago Kulisic/Isaac Nuñez (PER) climbed to the podium tops, and in WD 16-21, Iasmyn Gomes/Helena Silva (BRA), Araceli Lopez/Nicole Saucedo (PAR), and Odette Cobos/Diana Ferguharson (GUA) got the gold medals.
The 22-Ab event had the following winners: Mario Garcia (PAR) in Men’s Singles, Glency Orellana (ESA) and Walkiri Cesar (DOM) in Women’s Singles. Gustavo Bogarin/Mario Garcia (PAR) were the winners in Men’s Doubles, while Walkiri Cesar/Oscaderyc Martinez (DOM) and Antonia Chamorro/Maria Garcia (PAR) did the same in Women’s Doubles categories.
Chile, Peru, Guatemala, and Paraguay were the winners of the Team Relay Event in the different categories played.
The 4th edition of these Games had the inclusion of Badminton in the competition programme for the very first time, and the athletes really enjoyed the experience with very exciting matches.
