COACH AND PLAYERS WITHDRAWN FROM XI SANTO DOMINGO OPEN 2021
Badminton Pan Am (BPAC) can confirm that one coach and two players from Venezuela have been withdrawn from the XI Santo Domingo Open 2021 after the Coach had not been feeling well and decided to take an antigen SARS CoV2 test on March 23. As the result came out positive, they proceeded with the recommendation to carry out a PCR test, which will be carried out on March 24.
This was communicated to the Organization and BPAC, and a decision to isolate this group until PCR testing was done to the Coach and both athletes who had travelled together to the event.
Meanwhile the team keeps isolation until test results are provided. We recognize the communication reached to the Organization by the Coach and a decision was reached to withdraw the players from the event.
Protocols continue to be implemented by the Organization and BPAC to ensure the health and safety of all participants.
