Six Months to Go – Tokyo 2020
There are 6 months left until the start of the next Olympics Games and our athletes continue to fight for a dream.
The Badminton competition in Tokyo 2020 will begin on July 25 and end on August 3.
Michelle Li (CAN), Jason Ho-Shue (CAN), Beiwen Zhang (USA) and Ygor Coelho (BRA) are listed as the best placed in Singles at the Road To Tokyo Ranking, however, nothing is said until the close of the qualifying period next April.
Kevin Cordon (GUA), Lino Muñoz (MEX) and Howard Shu (USA) are some of the athletes who will do their best during these last weeks to reach a place in the qualification.
In the same way, Iris Wang (USA), Daniela Macias (PER), Fabiana Silva (BRA) and Haramara Gaitan (MEX) will fight to secure a quota in Tokyo 2020.
In Doubles, Phillip Chew and Ryan Chew (USA) will fight until the end for reach a quota at the Olympics.
All the players that are still looking for a place in Tokyo will compete at the next Badminton Pan Am Male & Female Cup 2020.
Some details about the qualification:
- Recall that, generally, only qualify one per country, unless athletes are in the first locations of the Ranking.
- By Universality, the International Olympic Committee proposes that there be at least one representative from each continent.
- There will be 38 players in Men’s Singles, 38 in Women’s Singles, and 16 pairs per event in Doubles.
