Women's doubles tournament from Nov 16

The Bengaluru qualifiers of Red Bull Shuttle Up, Indias first ever exclusive womens doubles tournament, will be held on Saturday.

The event is aimed at encouraging the next generation of women's doubles badminton players to take up the sport professionally, a press note said.

Qualifiers have already been held across Delhi, Hyderabad, Guwahati and Chandigarh. The winning team from each qualifier will take part in the national Finals to be held in Hyderabad on December 8.

Also, the the national finals winners will get a chance to play against ace doubles player Ashwini Ponnappa and a partner of her choosing.

It has been my ambition to promote badminton in India, especially for women. Its great to be associated with brands like Red Bull that create such platforms and that give wings to the dreams of aspiring talent," Ponappa said.
