Two Golds for Ellen at Tees Valley

Thornaby has proved to be a good hunting ground for our PC players in recent years and so it was again at the Tees Valley Under 17 Bronze tournament.  The stand-out successes came from Ellen Davison who came home with two gold medals and a bronze.   She was backed up with golds for Charlotte Graham and Sonny Ho, silvers for Amy Ward and Charlotte, and bronzes for Ollie Edmondson, Jack Tilbury and Sonny.

Partnering Durham’s Anna Kroon in the level doubles, Ellen scored wins to 19 and 18 in the two matches.  Charlotte and Amy pushed them close taking the runners-up berth.  The mixed saw Ellen teaming up with Sonny in a group of five pairs and winning all four of their matches relatively convincingly.  In the girls’ singles, the group runners-up, and therefore bronze medallists, were Anna Kroon and Ellen: the latter got very close to Charlotte in their 21-19 group match.  Charlotte went on to take the gold medal with a fine 21-17 win over top seed, Lancashire’s Hafsa Ashraf.

In the boys’ events, Sonny won his singles group, beating the second seed on the way to the semi-final, which he lost 21-12 to Lincolnshire’s Max Georgi.  There were group wins also for Jack and for Hugh Twelves.  Jack and Ollie then won two of their four matches in the level doubles, taking the bronze medals.  Very well done to them all.
