Maharjan makes it to three finals in National Badminton

National champion Rashila Maharjan advanced to the finals of three events in the Yonex Sunrise ninth Pushpalal Memorial National Ranking Badminton Championship here today.
The Tribhuvan Army Club shuttler Maharjan defeated Nepal APF Club’s Jessica Gurung 21-17, 18-21, 21-13 in the women’s singles semi-final and will face Bhojpur’s Nangsal Devi Tamang, a 21-17, 21-12 winner over Morang’s Seema Rajbanshi, in a rematch of previous edition’s final. Maharjan entered the girls’ U-17 final with a 21-9, 21-16 victory over Roj Pandey of Morang. She will take on another Morang shuttler Seema Rajbanshi, who beat TAC’s Ranjana Bhatta 16-21, 21-16, 21-14, in the final.
Maharjan teamed up with Ranjana Bhatta to beat Banke’s Samjhana Sharma and Morang’s Seema Rajbanshi 21-15, 21-17 in the women’s doubles semi-final to set date with APF’s Jessica Gurung and Pooja Shrestha, who defeated TAC’s Amita Giri and Anu Maya Rao 21-15, 11-21, 21-17.
In men’s section semi-finals, national champion Dipesh Dhami of APF defeated Bikash Shrestha 21-12, 21-14, while seven-time champion Ratnajit Tamang beat fellow TAC shuttler Nabin Shrestha 21-14, 21-19. In doubles, Dhami and Bijit Thapa Magar defeated Banke’s Riyaj Ansari and Irfan Ansari 21-15, 21-17 to set final date with Tamang and Nabin Shrestha, who beat TAC teammates Praful Maharjan and Rukesh Maharjan 21-15, 24-22.
In open section, TAC’s Pabin Lingthep and Kailali’s Devraj Rana made it to the men’s section final, while Manisha Khadka of Zest Badminton Academy set women’s final with Prarthana Deuba of Banke.
In boys’ U-17 section, Amrit Chaudhary of Kailali and APF’s Priyanshu Singh Chhetri advanced to the final.
Likewise, Kiran Pradhan and Yogeshwor Shrestha of Dhankuta made it to the veteran doubles final along with Birendra Singh Bista and Mahesh Bajracharya of Palpa. The finals are slated for Saturday.
