Yamaguchi, Chen cruise into semis at Badminton Asia Championships
DUBAI, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Top-seeded Akane Yamaguchi of Japan edged defending champion Wang Zhiyi of China in a three-set thriller to reach the women's singles semifinals at the Badminton Asia Championships here on Friday.
Wang's title defense came to an end on her birthday as Yamaguchi, who was beaten by Wang in last year's final, bounced back in straight sets 21-14, 21-17 after losing the first 21-13.
