PMRA Race #2 Delivers Big Moments at Xtreme Raceway Park

The Performance Motorcycle Racing Association (PMRA) rolled into Xtreme Raceway Park for Race #2 of the season, and the result was exactly what grassroots motorcycle drag racing is built on—tight competition, strong racer turnout, and a level of camaraderie that continues to define the series.

Event promoter, Chad Townsend opened the weekend by recognizing track owner Gaylen Smith and his staff for their seamless support in hosting the event, helping ensure a smooth, fast-paced race day from start to finish.

Racer Camaraderie Steals the Spotlight

Before eliminations even began, the tone of the event was set in the pits. In a standout moment, one racer stepped up to cover the entry fee for Randal Artz, acknowledging the effort behind his new machine build. It was one of several examples throughout the day that highlighted the culture within PMRA—racers supporting racers.

On track, the performance matched the energy in the pits. Joshua Ray Jr. delivered one of the most impressive runs of the event, cutting a perfect .000 reaction time and backing it up with a dead-on 5.600 pass on a 5.60 index. The run earned him an on-the-spot bonus, further sweetened when another racer added cash to the payout.

The Mini Bike class also brought its own storyline, featuring a strong turnout, including more female riders than male competitors, and additional bonus money being added to the purse.

Qualifying

As qualifying wrapped up, several standout performances established the pecking order heading into eliminations:

Pro Open: Austin Wagoner

4.90 Index: Kirk Reeves
Top Gas (5.20): Lucas Townsend
Super Comp (5.60): Joshua Ray Jr.

Fast Racing and Tight Competition

With lanes packed across both bracket and index categories, eliminations delivered consistently close racing. Track conditions and weather aligned for a near-perfect race environment, allowing riders to push their combinations with confidence.

Behind the scenes, PMRA staff kept the program moving efficiently throughout the day, ensuring racers stayed in rhythm and rounds progressed without delays.
