Casella Waste Bringing Truckload of Support to Stafford Speedway In 2026
(Stafford Springs, CT)—Casella Waste Systems is set for another big season at Stafford Motor Speedway. Casella will once again be the title sponsor of the Casella Waste SK 80, scheduled for Friday, June 5th. Casella sponsored the inaugural event last season which was won by Michael Christopher, Jr. The Casella Waste SK 80 will serve as the first of three races in the 2026 SK Modified® Triple Crown provided by Sign Pro.
“We’re doing the Casella SK 80 again this year and after the Spring Sizzler® I believe that we’re the first big race of the season for the SK Modified® division,” said Mark DiMauro, Sr., Division Manager for Casella Waste in Connecticut. “We had an awesome time last year and we were real happy with being the sponsor of the SK 80. It’s pretty cool that we started out sponsoring an Open Modified 80 lapper and now we’re doing the SK 80 lapper. Working with Stafford on this SK 80 event has been a great partnership for Casella Waste.”
Casella Waste’s participation in Stafford’s premier SK Modified® division won’t be limited to just title sponsorship of the Casella SK 80. For the 5th consecutive season, Casella will be a member of the Stafford Contingency Program and provide a weekly bonus of $125 to each SK Modified® second place feature finisher.
“This will be our fifth season doing contingency and we’re pretty excited about continuing that relationship with the track,” said DiMauro. “We really love doing whatever we can to help out Stafford and the racers at the track.”
In addition to the Casella Waste SK 80 and the second place SK Modified® contingency, Casella will also have their names on the SK Modified® cars of Troy Talman and Nickolas Hovey along with the Late Model machine of Chris Meyer and the Senior Outlaw kart of Mark DiMauro, Jr. on Monday nights in Wild Thing Karts.
“We’re going to be sponsoring Troy Talman again and together with Chris Meyer they will be our two flagship cars this season,” said DiMauro. “We couldn’t be happier and more proud of Troy and Chris for their success and we’re excited about working with them again. We’ll also be helping out Nick Hovey and we’ll be at Stafford again on Monday nights with my son Mark, Jr. and his Senior Outlaw kart. We’d love to see Troy win the Casella 80. He’s been close and finished second a couple of times and he won our employee night in 2024, so we’ve had some real success on Casella nights. We can’t wait to be back at the track on Monday and Friday nights this season.”

The first Casella Waste Systems contingency of the 2026 season will be paid out as part of the 54th Annual NAPA Spring Sizzler®, set for April 25-26. The NAPA Spring Sizzler® kicks off on Saturday, April 25, with feature events for the Late Model, Limited Late Model, Street Stock, and Granite State ProStock divisions, along with SK Light qualifying duel races that will set the field for an extra-distance 30-lap feature event on Sunday, April 26.
