Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Named Finalist for Classic Motorsports Magazine Editors’ Choice Awards

0 8

Accolades for the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix keep rolling in, as Classic Motorsports Magazine has named the PVGP a finalist for their Inaugural 2025 Editors’ Choice Awards.

“The PVGP faced a year of perseverance this summer with the Panther Hollow Bridge closure. Designing a new race course and adding a new hillclimb event really enabled us to put our best foot forward and host a successful event despite some significant challenges,” said Joe Teplitz, PVGP Competition Director. “To receive recognition from not only one, but now two highly regarded organizations in our industry is a testament to our volunteers and their unwavering dedication,” Teplitz concluded.

The PVGP did, in fact, overcome a set of very unusual circumstances to host a successful 2025 race. Our volunteers led the charge to ensure the new track design was not only safe but also challenging for racers. The logistics behind both the new course and adding the hillclimb for spectators on the golf course to enjoy racing action were extensive.

The nomination is the second such honor in as many weeks for the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, which has stepped into the international spotlight in recent years. The International Historic Motoring Awards recently named the PVGP a finalist for “Motorsport Event of the Year” for the second consecutive year. Those award winners will be revealed on November 14 at the annual IHMA Gala in London.

“To receive recognition from such a well-respected and renowned publication, such as Classic Motorsports, is truly an honor. We are a volunteer-driven organization, and this nomination reflects their commitment, hard work, and expertise. Our volunteers and partners are bring the PVGP to life and allow us to put on memorable events for our attendees and racers alike,” said PVGP Chairman James Dolan. Planning for 2026 is already underway with Schenley Park Race Weekend scheduled for July 18-19.

Embarking on its 44th year, the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix is the largest motorsport festival in North America and the only vintage race run on city streets. Our volunteer-driven organization proudly supports our charity partners to help individuals and families affected by autism and intellectual disabilities.
