The Beast is Hungry for More

The unique blown parallel twin of Per Bengtsson has been barking at Super Twin fields for years but The Beast really starting to bear its fangs in 2025. The recent Summit Equipment Racing Internationals in Sweden delivered a lot of positive results for the team at their home race, with tweaks to the exhaust system, experimentation with a long injector scoop and a lot of appreciative FlexoArt/Bentec employees visiting their pit area over the course of the weekend. The Swedish veteran was very happy with the course of events and looks forward with promise:

“I’m extremely pleased with the 6.2 baseline [Bengtsson low qualified with a new PB of 6.207, close to Tommy Grimes’ best on the bike of a 6.195 in 2019], we really learned a lot that weekend. Checked everything after the race, haven’t opened the motor since Main Event. Everything looks better than ever, no indication of pushing at all!!

We’ve made some changes in the headers and blower for Hockenheim, knowing we will have different conditions, both in the air and on the track. I also knowI need to beat Marcus [Christiansen] so we can have a championship deciding race the following weekend at Santa Pod. Strategy will be important, performance not so important. We’re really looking forward to a great competition. See you there!”

Last year’s NitrOlympX saw Per surprise himself and the team with a then personal best of a 6.211 (“we’re not too sure where that came from”), but a further improvement in Germany wouldn’t be any surprise this time around. The sharp end of the FIM-E Super Twin field will be something to watch as the season heads towards its denouement.
