Peterborough Speedway Moves 2025 Opener to Saturday, May 24th

Track staff spent the off-season crossing T’s and dotting I’s. Everything was ready for this year’s Saturday, May 17th season kick-off, until Mother Nature stepped in with an early morning helping of heavy rain, thunder and lighting to spoil the party.

“We all saw the forecast and hoped that it might be wrong or give us a big enough window to get everything in. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case,” said Peterborough Speedway owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse. “To make sure our racers and fans have enough notice to make their plans, our promotional team put together a back-up plan that works for everyone.”

Josiasse says the KX 105.1 New Country Season Opener will now shift to Saturday, May 24th with a raceday line-up that will include Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock, Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck, Jiffy Lube Super Stock, Junior Late Model and OMRS Racing. Pit gates will open at noon, grandstands at 3:00 and the first Great Canadian RV green flag at 5:00.

As was the case with the rain delayed season kick-off event, spectator general admission grandstand access will be free. There will also be a driver autograph session at intermission. Regrettably, the live entertainment featuring Peterborough’s Ty Wilson – a 2024 Reader’s Choice ‘Diamond Award Winner’ as best local musician or band – will not be included in the make-up date’s schedule.

Fans are reminded that pit area access is not included in the free admission promotion and anyone entering through the pit gate is required to provide a completed 2025 Speed Waiver. Peterborough Speedway is a ‘cash only’ facility for any on-site purchases. An ATM is available near the main grandstand entrance.

Anyone who had created an online ballot for the original opening night family pass drawing for the Saturday, June 14th APC Late Model/Dayco Super Stock doubleheader, with the $100 to start 50 lap Bone Stock Shootout is still eligible for the rescheduled draw. The winner must be in attendance to claim their prize.
