‘It’s Tottenham Hotspur’ – Brennan Johnson sends rallying cry after Ipswich win
Brennan Johnson is delighted to help Tottenham Hotspur register a thumping win on his return to the starting eleven and the winger made an admission about what has changed regarding how Spurs are now managing games.
While Brennan Johnson can be a frustrating player to watch at times, what is inarguable is that the Welsh international has a natural ability to find the back of the net.
Johnson came back into the starting eleven on the right of the front three with Ange Postecoglou making three changes from the side which beat Manchester United 1-0 last weekend.
He served a reminder of just what Spurs were missing over the last two months by clinically dispatching two at the far post in typical fashion after being picked out by Heung-min Son on both occasions.
While Ipswich got one back before half-time, the away side hit back with two late goals from Djed Spence and Dejan Kulusevski to make the scoreline look comfortable.

The crucial part of the game was arguably at the start of the second half, with the home side throwing bodies forward and putting Tottenham under pressure.
However, rather than crumbling as they have on other occasions this season, the Lilywhites came through that spell and hit back with devastating effect.
Johnson admitted that having the experienced players back is a key reason why they did not panic when Keiran McKenna’s men were looking to equalise.
The Tottenham man told BBC Sport after the 4-1 win: “We have always tried to believe. When we have all the players back, we won the last two Premier League games and that’s something we wanted to keep in mind.
“We played good football, but also defended well. With more experienced players they have had to deal with these games when we’re 2-0 up, but then concede one. When we have these experienced players back we know how to get onto the ball.”
Johnson was focused despite a frosty reception
The occasion was special for the Johnson family, with his father, David Johnson, spending four seasons at Portman Road Stadium during his career and making 131 appearances for Ipswich.
However, if Johnson was expecting a good reception, he got just the opposite, with the home fans booing him right from the start.
The Tottenham man responded in the perfect fashion by hitting the back of the net twice, but he insisted that his focus was purely on helping his side win.
When asked about scoring against the side his father used to play for, the winger responded: “He [David Johnson] had a great time here. He holds the club in high accounts. For me, it was about getting the three points for Tottenham.
“They beat us last time and that was in our heads because we didn’t want to lose today. It’s Tottenham Hotspur – we want to be as high as we can. We want to get right up the league table.”
