BLOG: Highlighting our Weis Markets Partnership & Hometown Heroes Program

0 9

(May 4, 2021) At Pocono Raceway we treat all our partners as part of the family. As the only family owned and operated facility in NASCAR, we pride ourselves on providing a one-of-a-kind program tailored specifically to each of our partners. Whether they are a local start up or a global leader in their industry, our small, but dedicated team of professionals couple experience with creativity to build a partnership package to fit their goals. This rings true in our long-time partnership with Weis Markets.

Founded in 1912, Weis Markets, Inc. is a Mid Atlantic food retailer operating 197 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York West Virginia, and Virginia. As the ‘Official Grocery Store of Pocono Raceway,’ Weis Markets has a long history with Pocono Raceway. This partnership blossomed into one focused on building a strong business relationship, as well as recognizing and giving back to those in the community. We felt that in the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was important to focus our efforts on those who deserved recognition. So, in the fall of 2020, we partnered to launch the “Weis Markets Hometown Heroes” program – a community-focused initiative which identities and recognizes everyday individuals who have gone above and beyond.

After receiving hundreds of incredible entries in 2020, the Pocono Raceway staff, Raceway Fan Council and member of the Weis Markets team narrowed down the finalists and selected Jessica Tanner as the inaugural ‘Hometown Heroes’ winner. Jessica Tanner was chosen for all she does for her family and others. Not only does Jessica work as a charge nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital – Monroe Campus, but she also has two additional jobs and is a mother of three. She returned from maternity leave early, in the height of the pandemic last year, to care for those in need within the Pocono Mountains community. Jessica’s family’s heartfelt nomination proved she has an extraordinary dedication to caring for her family and others.

The program was so successful, we are bringing it back this in 2021!

Whether it be a teacher who has gone above and beyond for their students, a co-worker who has tirelessly multi-tasked responsibilities while working from home, a community organizer who has kept critical services open and available, or a military member, first responder, medical professional or your everyday local Weis Markets employee who has selflessly been there for us.

This year, two ‘Hometown Heroes’ and two ‘Above and Beyond’ recipients will be selected. Each ‘Hometown Heroes’ will receive a $500 Weis Markets Gift Card and a VIP experience for to the 2021 NASCAR Doubleheader Weekend. The ‘Above and Beyond’ recipients will each receive a $250 Weis Markets Gift Card, a $250 Pocono Raceway Gift Card and NASCAR tickets to Pocono Raceway.
