AHDRA 2021 Motorcycle Drag Racing Season Starts Now!

On April 16-18, 2021, the All Harley Drag Racing Association, or AHDRA as they are affectionately known, will kick off their 2021 season with a trip to Atlanta Dragway to begin this year’s competitions. This will be the first of eight national event races for the V-Twin faithful who have been firmly behind Harley Davidson drag racing; some of them for decades now. This event will feature all AHDRA classes from Top Fuel Harley through Street ET. Gates will open on Friday at 9 am for racers. There will be a test & tune from 2 pm, till lanes close at 7 pm. Gates will be secured at close to 10 pm or as needed.
The race weekend begins on Saturday with Pit gates opening at 8 am followed bya 10:30 am riders meeting at the AHDRA trailer. Track will go hot at 11 am. The first round of qualifying for Pros begins with Top Fuel Harley at noon. The run order will be: TFH, Pro/Open, NFB, P/Mod, P/Fuel, 9.30 index, Pro Drag’n Bagger, Modified, 9.90 index, Outlaw Street, 10.30 index, Hot Street, 10.90 index, Bagger Eliminator, 11.50 index class, Eliminator class, and Trophy Street.
These 17 classes of competition will repeat at 2:15 pm for Q-2 and again at 4:30 pm for Q-3, the final qualifying session. Racers and fans are advised to listen with care to public address announcements as this race schedule is subject to change without prior notice. Please listen with care to all PA announcements throughout the race weekend.
Sunday racing will begin with gates opening at 8 am, and the 10:30 riders meeting. 11 am till 11:20 am will be ET class T/T runs, with the staging lanes closing for track prep before opening ceremonies. Top Fuel Harley will commence the eliminations at 12 Noon, to kick off the show. The remaining 16 classes will follow in rotation until eliminations are complete on Sunday.
In Top Fuel Harley, some of the known contestants will include Rich Vreeland the 2020, AHDRA TFH champion. Other TFH entries include: Tii Tharpe, Randal Andras, and Ryan Perry, out of the Jay Turner Racing stable. Ryan will also be racing in Pro/Fuel. Mark Conner will be piloting Johnny “Red” Rhea’s bike, and Michael Balch will be on Red’s P/F entry. Mike Beland will be on his new TFH. The Bad Apple Racing team bikes of Tracy Kile and Frank Capone will be in competition. Tim Kerrigan and Tyler Wilson will be racing out of the Hawaya Racing shop and Sam White will be helping test the new Hawaya Racing Terminator II bike. So fans can look forward to a full field of Top Fuel Harleys at this event.
Other known Nitro bikes that are highly likely to be racing at the AHDRA opener include: Chris Smith, Preston Bartlett, Jim Martin, and very likely others, as well.
Most if not all the 2020 AHDRA class champions are expected to attend this race in defense of their #1 plates: Top Fuel – Rich Vreeland, Pro Fuel – Rocky Jackson, Pro Dragster – Preston Bartlett, Pro Mod – John Price, X Bagger – Greg Quinn, X Gas – Mike Motto, Modified – Jeff Workman, Draggin Bagger – Branon White, Outlaw Street – Ryland Mason, Hot Street – Scott Schenkel, 9.70 – John Schotts, 10.30 – Tom Krava, 10.90 – Brad Reiss Jr., and the 11.50 index class champion – Kevin Winters.
