South African-Inspired Liveries For Kyalami-bound Audis

0 6

Audi Sport Customer Racing have revealed the liveries that their three factory-backed cars will sport for next month’s IGTC season finale, the Kyalami 9 Hour.

Both of the WRT fielded cars and the factory-backed Car Collection Motorsport machine will feature South African themed colour aches, continuing the theme that Audi have adopted for several IGTC events (and prior standalone races), in recent years.

The 2020 liveries are a step up from 2019’s ‘Zebra’ colours for the IGTC’s first South African visit but the Kyalami efforts follow on from special liveries in previous years to celebrate the heritage of their hosts in both the USA and Australia.

The now-defunct California 8 Hours saw three Audis bedecked in stylised ‘Stars and Stripes’ colours in 2018 at Laguna Seca, one of a number of nods that the factory-backed cars have sported in their US adventures.

The idea seems to have originated from a number of successful efforts at Aussie-themed liveries for the Bathurst 2 Hour, the Jamec Per cars sporting patriotic Aussie flag themes in 2017.

And other years have seen nods back to the infamous ‘Crocodile’ liveried Audi R9 LMP900 that won the Adelaide race of 1000 years, with other wildlife-themed liveries along the way too.

Long may this effort continue!
