4H Portimao: Friday Paddock Notes 1 (Get Well Jade xx)
By far the most important paddock note of the weekend surrounds the stickers being carried on the JMW Ferrari (and it seems on other cars too), to support Jade Hagger, daughter of long-time team JMW Manager Steve as she gets stuck into kicking the arse of cancer this week.
Jade – from all of us in Portimao, and I’m sure everywhere else too – kick its arse!
Porsche posse
The #88 Proton Competition Porsche now has the confirmed driver line up of Thomas Preining, Adrian de Leener and Steffen Görig.
With the return of the Ebimotors Porshe here too that makes a trio of Porsches for the Championship finale. Expect fireworks!
Driver Rankings Bite
A hot topic of conversation is the draft list of FIA driver rankings with a number of current Silver-ranked pilots currently ranked Gold for 2020 (subject to appeal).
These include, DSC believes: Arjun Maini, Colin Noble, Duncan Tappy, Mikkel Jensen and Job van Uitert with more than one of that list so far seeing strong prospects of competitive drives in sportscars becoming somewhat less certain at present as a result.
LMP2 grid changes afoot
Cool Racing are, it seems, pushing hard to add a second LMP2 ORECA to their ELMS effort in 2020, this in addition to their current WEC car.
There’s some way to go yet though before the two car LMP2 effort can be regarded as a probable.
The shape of the 2020 ELMS LMP2 grid is slowly coming together with a range of changes expected.
DSC is hearing of new LMP2 teams, teams potentially expanding to two-car efforts, at least one team likely to run only a single car after running two this season and the possibility of at least one LMP2 team leaving the series.
More as we firm up those sources!
