OHSWEKEN, Ont. (July 30, 2019) – This week’s edition of “In the Driver’s Seat” features Go Fast Teeple from the Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stock division. Each week this segment showcases a driver from the Middleport Mechanical Thunder Stock or HRW Automotive Mini Stock divisions to share some insight on the drivers wearing the fire suit and behind the wheel of the cars that put on the show.

How old were you when you started racing? What division/class? How long have you been in this current division?

GFT: “I was 34 years old when I started racing and began my racing career in a Mini Stock. I moved up to the Thunder Stock division a few years ago, although I have tried my hand at racing in a Pro Stock truck at Humberstone Speedway as well.”

How did you get involved in racing?

GFT: “We found ourselves with some time and a little extra cash when Chris Storm gave me a Chevette and said “let’s go racing” and here we are!”

What was your scariest situation in a racecar?

GFT: “I’d say it was in 2015 while in the Mini Stock. Jay Moulton and I collided so hard it knocked me out. It was hard enough that we both scrapped our cars.”

Do you get “race nerves” before a race?

GFT: “No, I can’t say that I do.”

What is your favourite race moment to date (as a driver, fan, growing up, etc.)?

GFT: “Winning a Feature at Humberstone Speedway in 2018”

If you could race in any other class, which would it be?

GFT: “Given the opportunity, I’d choose the Late Model division.”

What advice would you give anyone who is interested in getting into racing?

GFT: “My only advice would be to stay away from Front Wheel Drive cars, they are lame in my opinion.”

What driver do you most admire? Do they influence your driving style?

GFT: “Luke Carleton and Rob Knapp of the Sportsman division would be my choices and yes, they certainly do influence my driving style.”

If you could compete in any race, what would it be? Which track?

GFT: “I’d love to qualify and make the show at Brighton Speedway’s annual Applefest Shootout.”

Do you have any race day or pre-race superstitions or rituals?

GFT: “No superstitions but we do have race day safety meetings.”

Who picked your number and why?

GFT: “I picked my number….why? Because it’s mine!”

What other activities do you enjoy besides race car driving?

GFT: “Bowling at Lucky Strikes in Fort Erie!!”
