Historic Racing Notebook – From Barcelona – And Goodwood!
Two significant events are underway this weekend – the 77th Members Meeting at Goodwood, and the Peter Auto organised Espiritu de Montjuic at Barcelona.
As already covered yesterday on DSC the Goodwood meeting, alongside the traditionally excellent historic racing, has some very special on-track demonstrations – including one celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Porsche 917.

There’s also an opportunity for racegoers to see several iconic le Mans Prototypes on track at speed – with others on display in Goodwood’s paddock, several featuring their drivers from the correct period.
Martin Short has both of the Rollcentre Dallara Judds on display, the second car, now in the ownership of Jeremy Cottingham restored back to its magnificent ORECA colour scheme.
Jota’s David Clark has brought his ex factory Audi R8 out to play too and there are a pair of Bentley Speed Eight’s, one for static display, the other with double duty – in part of another on-track demo commemorating the 100th anniversary of Bentley Motors this year which will be pedalled by Tom Kristensen.
Add in too a glorious Riley and Scott, an ex Racing Box Lola LMP2, a pair of Panoz LMP Roadsters and a pair of Peugeot 908s (one HDI FAP and a 908X) and there are plenty of relatively recent memories to be jogged.

Over in Spain meanwhile Patrick Peter’s Organisation are kicking off their season with the Espiritu de Montjuic at Barcelona.
Amongst the goodies on display there are the always evocative Group C’s and the debuting Endurance Racing Legends.
Mike Wrigley took Race 1 in the Groups Cs today in his Spice SE89C whilst Shaun (father of AMR factory driver Alex) Lynn, took the win in Endurance Racing Legends in his glorious 2003 Bentley Speed 8 (pic via Facebook page of Progressive Engineering’s Dave Ward).
