What Is Buick... Nowadays?

Is it a premium or upscale brand of car - or just a name stamped on a variant of a corporate-wide platform?
In my day, the Buick was as much a destination as where it carried you to. Everything, from the grille, to the sheet metal, to the seats and other interior appointments, exuded BUICK.
I'm glad to see the division survive the big round of purging at GM roughly ten-fifteen years ago. And in China, Buick is their 'Cadillac'.
