The Blue Demons’ 68-61 victory earned them their first Big East victory of the season and snapped their 14-game conference road losing streak.

MILWAUKEE — Charlie Moore had 21 points, including all 10 of his free throws, as DePaul beat Marquette 68-61 on Saturday to earn its first Big East victory of the season and snap a 14-game conference road losing streak.

Javon Freeman-Liberty had 19 points and six rebounds for the Blue Demons (3-5, 1-5 Big East Conference), who won at Marquette for the first time since a 57-56 decision Jan. 20, 2016. Darious Hall added seven rebounds. Nick Ongenda had five blocks.

D.J. Carton scored a career-high 23 points for the Golden Eagles (8-7, 4-5). Justin Lewis and Theo John had eight rebounds.

DePaul led by 13 points in the second half before Marquette chipped away and briefly held a lead. Trailing by two with three minutes left, Freeman-Liberty and Moore scored the final 14 points as the Demons pulled away for the win.

DePaul trailed for less than a minute as Freeman-Liberty scored on a putback and on the next possession he hit two free throws to give the Demons the lead for good.

Then Moore took over, scoring the final 10 points, starting with a driving layup that was goaltended before knocking down eight straight free throws in the final minute.

The Demons turned the ball over a season-low 11 times while totaling nine steals for the third straight game.
