Razorback MGolf Fall Recap; Team Ranked 6th

FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas, coming in at #6 nationally, is one of 10 SEC teams ranked among Golf Stat’s top 17 programs after the 2020 fall season.

Individually, Arkansas was one of three programs – joining top-ranked Vanderbilt and second-ranked Pepperdine – to have five players ranked among the nation’s top 80.

Julian Perico leads the way for the Razorbacks at #8 as he recorded his second collegiate win, posted an 11-6 record versus players among the Golf Stat top 25 and was an impressive 30-0 versus players ranked between 26-100.

Tyson Reeder ranks 35th, Mason Overstreet 54th, Segundo Oliva Pinto 55th and Manuel Lozada 70th.

Arkansas was 26-12-1 this fall. Its 26 wins tied for third-best among the league schools and its .692 winning percentage ranked fourth among the league members.

In Golf Stat national ranking, Arkansas trailed top-ranked Vanderbilt, #2 Pepperdine, #3 Georgia, #4 Tennessee and #5 UAB. Other SEC schools inside the top 20 include #7 Texas A&M, #8 Auburn, #9 Alabama, #12 South Carolina, #15 Florida, #16 LSU and #17 Ole Miss.

In the Golfweek Power Ranking, Arkansas is 15th with all seven Razorbacks that played this fall among the nation’s top 200 including Julian Perico (37th), Tyson Reeder (87th), Mason Overstreet (111th), Segundo Oliva Pinto (113th), Manuel Lozada (123rd), Denver Davis (178th) and Wil Gibson (194th).

Arkansas and Pepperdine were the only two schools to have as many as seven players among the nation’s top 200.

Highlights:

  • Third at its own Blessings Collegiate Invitational; 6th in other two events
  • Team shot par or better in six of its nine rounds
  • Perico won at Vanderbilt Legends Collegiate, led the team with 69.78 stroke average with five of his nine rounds being par or better.
  • Manuel Lozada tied Perico with two top 20 finishes and shooting par or better five times.
  • Tyson Reeder shot par or better in four of his six rounds and his score counted toward the team total in all six rounds.
  • Six Razorbacks had a scoring average of 72 or better: Overstreet (70.33 – two events played); Oliva Pinto (71.67 – three events); Denver Davis (71.33 – one event); Lozada (71.89 – three events) and Reeder (72.0 – two events).
  • Arkansas was 3-0 versus four SEC teams this past fall (Kentucky, Mississippi State, Missouri and South Carolina) and posted a winning record versus six others (Alabama, Auburn, Florida, LSU, Ole Miss and Texas A&M).
