Razorbacks Split for USATF U20 Championships and JAAA/SVL National Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.  – Eight current or former Razorbacks will be in action this weekend as they compete in the JAAA/SVL National Championships and the USATF U20 Outdoor Championships in Kingston, Jamaica and Miramar, Fla., respectively.

Razorbacks set to compete at the JAAA/SVL National Championships include Clive Pullen (’17), Kemar Mowatt (’18), Janeek Brown, Sparkle McKnight (’15) and the reigning Olympic Gold Medalist in the 110-meter hurdles Omar Mcleod (’16)

Janeek Brown enters the meet coming off an NCAA Championship meet that saw the sophomore capture the national title in the 100-meter hurdles posting the second-fastest time in collegiate history at 12.40 – tied with Kentucky’s Jasmine Camacho-Quinn. Brown will compete in the 100-meter hurdles, entering the meet with the No. 1 time in the world in 2019. The 100-meter hurdles will be run Sunday, June. 23 at 5:15 p.m.

Clive Pullen competed in the finals of the triple jump Thursday night capturing the Jamaican National title with a mark of 17.02m (55-10.25) on his third attempt. Pullen moves to No. 18 in the world in the event in 2019 with his jump.

Kemar Mowatt competed in the prelims of the 400-meter hurdles Thursday night, advancing to the finals with a season-best time of 49.69Q that was the second-fastest on the night. Finals of the 400-meter hurdles will be run Friday night at 7:21 p.m.

Razorbacks set to compete at the USA Junior Championships include Paris Peoples, J’Alyiea Smith, Meghan Underwood, and Rashad Boyd.

First up for Arkansas will be Paris Peoples who will run in the prelims of the 400-meters Saturday at 2:35 p.m. Peoples finished the NCAA season with a best of 52.79 that is just outside the top-10 in program history.

Rashad Boyd will run in the prelims of the 200-meters on Sunday at 5:42 p.m. Boyd is coming off a season that saw him run 20.78 to qualify for the NCAA Championships.

J’Alyiea Smith will compete in two events this weekend in the 400-meter hurdles and the high jump. Prelims in the 400-meter hurdles will run at 4:52 p.m. on Saturday while the high jump will begin Sunday at 4:00 p.m. Smith is ranked No. 10 in program history in the 400-meter hurdles with her personal-best time of 59.42.

Meghan Underwood will run in the 1,500-meters Sunday at 5:49 p.m. Underwood finished the 2019 NCAA season with a best of 4:22.39.
