Adjust and Maintain workshop 2: Strings, nocking points and servings

0 3

The next of this winter’s ‘Adjust and Maintain’ workshop sessions is this coming Saturday (21st December)

This is the second of a series of informal coaching workshops over the winter season, put on to provide information, help and guidance on some of the fundamental parts of the equipment we all shoot with.

This session will be looking specifically at the bow string, nocking points and servings, covering questions like;

Bracing height  – Why does it matter? how do we adjust it and keep it constant?

Serving maintenance – how to repair frayed centre servings

Nocking point – position, different types and fitting and adjusting them.

Regular string maintenance – putting away properly, using wax, checking loops, nocking points and bracing height

It will answer the fundamental questions of ‘what are bow strings made of?’ ‘how many twists should my string have?’ and ‘where should my nocking point point be?’ before going on to look at the best way to put away and store your strings as well as keeping them in tip-top shape! For those that are interested, we could also go on to discuss how to make your own strings.

This will definitely NOT be a ‘death by Powerpoint’ session! – it is intended to be a mix of hands-on demonstration, discussion and questions that will hopefully leave you a little more confident in the equipment you are using!

Although primarily intended for our new members and those new to archery – all are welcome – if only to point out the bits I’ve got wrong!

Date: 21st Decemberr 2024
Time: 12.30pm-1.30pm
Place: GAC Clubhouse

PLEASE ADD YOUR NAME TO THE BOOST SESSION SIGN UP AND ADD A NOTE: ‘Workshop’

All the best and good shooting
