GAC’s Paralympian archer Victoria Kingstone is going for gold in Paris this week, and we couldn’t be more proud!

Vicky is the only Paralympian on the 2024 GB squad who hasn’t been to a Games before. She’s also the oldest member of the team, (having just had her Life, The Universe and Everything birthday!*) and the only W1 competitor.

Currently ranked world number eight in the compound womens’ W1 category, Vicky will be shooting in the Individual competition, scheduled as follows:

Thurs 29 August
9am – 11.30am
Women’s individual W1 ranking round

Sat 31 August
9am onwards
Women’s individual W1 1/8 eliminations
Women’s individual W1 quarterfinals
Women’s individual W1 semifinals
Women’s individual W1 medal matches

10.48am – W1 Bronze Medal match
11.05am – W1 Gold Medal Match

More about the Paralympic W1 archery Category
W1 archers usually have more significant impairments, affecting their torso and at least three limbs. Some W1 archers encounter stability challenges and the rules allow W1 archers to be strapped into their wheelchairs (unlike open-class archers).

There are equipment regulations for W1 archers: they can use either recurve or compound bows, but they must not exceed a peak draw weight of 45lbs. Certain aids, such as peep sights, magnified lenses and levelling bubbles, are not allowed.

Go Vicky – we’re all rooting for you!

* That’s 42 for all you too young to remember “The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy…”
