Board meeting/Canadian Championships meeting Mar 30 @ 6:30pm

We are calling a meeting of the Board and the membership to move the planning process of the 2023 Canadian Outdoor Archery Championships forward, and we encourage you to attend. The meeting will be held on Thursday, March 30 at 6:30pm in the Pacific Dogwood Room at Saanich Commonwealth Place.

We have committed to hosting this event and we would greatly appreciate your help to make it a success. We need assistance with sponsorships, car rentals, editing the official program, and other tasks before and during this national event. Please mark your calendars for August 8–12. Again we would greatly appreciate members who can commit to helping out that week.

If you want to compete, we encourage you to do so; you won’t get another chance to shoot a National Championships in your own back yard for quite a while! Please come to the meeting and hear what the plans are and find out how you can help support the club and the event. If you want to put your name on the volunteer list now, please contact our president, Al.

Archery Canada is already advertising the event – check it out here. There is information on our site about the event and the advertising opportunities.

Opportunity for Indigenous archers!

BC Archery is looking for any Indigenous youth interested in attending the Provincial Development Camp for the North American Indigenous Games on April 1-2 in Langley. This camp is open to all indigenous youth (First Nations, Métis and Inuit) born 2004-2010, not just those looking to join Team BC.

All athletes interested in learning more about the sport of archery are invited to attend. This event is also an optional event for athletes hoping to attend NAIG, and is a great opportunity to learn from our Team BC coaches. Plus, there’s no cost and participanst can use the results from this event as part of your Team BC 2023 NAIG application! You can learn more and register here

Reminder: wear your membership card and sign in

Just a friendly reminder to display your membership cards clearly so they can be seen when you’re at a club shoot. Either attach them to your quiver or on a lanyard. Al has the club laminator should anyone want their card laminated. And please remember to sign in at every indoor shoot. It is necessary for our reporting of insured members, any guests, and for our own data.

Maintenance work at Saanich Commonwealth

Just an FYI for members – you’re likely aware that Saanich Commonwealth Place has had ongoing construction since September 2022 for a large Biomass boiler project. The work continues and the facility will experience a disruption in their HVAC and heating systems from April 3 – 21, 2023. The facility will remain open but please note that spaces may be cooler then normal.
