1. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by the President at 7:01pm
2. CHAIRMAN’S OPENING REMARKS
The president welcomed everyone to the first board meeting of 2022, look forward to discussing items the club can take action on this year.
3. CORRESPONDENCE
There is no official correspondence to report.
4. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING

5. REPORTS
Treasurer: All reports and balance sheets up to date, club account is currently in the red for this fiscal year, with some recent expenses for new butts. Some funds still due from Saanich Commonwealth which will help make up for some of the deficit.
Brad Barclay: Adult classes at Commonwealth are full and going well, and students appreciative that classes are well-organized and well-taught with proper instruction. Majority of beginner students progress to next level classes, and recent classes have produced several new club members. Barrier to new members joining out of classes is often equipment acquisition: lack of knowledge as to what & where to buy and funds for equipment. Board discussed options to get new archers/club members equipped. Helena offered to run equipment sales via the club to help get new archers get set up with appropriate equipment.
Mailmatch also going well. When Mailmatch tournaments are being run during indoor shoots at Commonwealth, it’s requested that when people put butts away early, they make sure they are not disturbing the flow of those shooting a score.
JOP Director: JOP going well, very busy with lots of young archers showing up each week. Ted will have to step back from running JOP full time in May. The club will advertise for a new JOP Director.
Dave Ball: Monday drop ins at Saanich also going well
6. BUSINESS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES
a. Indoor shooting – timings/shooting control
We will continue with having members sign in to indoor shoots for the time being. Will be running shoots with timers on a semi-regular basis.
b. Commonwealth shooting times spring/summer 22
It has been confirmed with Saanich Commonwealth that we will be able to shoot indoors through the spring and summer of 2022, same days and times we have currently. The Board was reminded that this will be expensive as indoor shooting costs up to $1100/month.
7. NEW BUSINESS
a. Sights on beginner bows
New sights are needed on the beginner/lesson bows – Helena will look into pricing/ordering 10-12 new ones.
b. 55+ Games September 22
Club has submitted a budget to the 55+ BC Games board for equipment and supplies (butts etc.) that will be needed to run the archery portion of the games – costs need to be covered by the 55+ BC Games org. We will also need volunteers to help with set up, running the tournament, take down, and other tasks.
c. Canadian Outdoor Championships 2023
Club has put together a preliminary budget for this event also to submit to Archery Canada to cover costs of running it. Hosting this event will also benefit the club financially. The original plan of having Greg attend the 2021 Nationals could not be accomplished as the event was cancelled. Greg cannot attend this year, so his airfare will be transferred to Al. Committee meetings will probably begin in the fall.
