Back to Shooting! (Again)

0 12

Dear Members

I hope that your experience of this second lockdown has not been too difficult, and that your mental and physical health has been OK without archery. I don’t know if the weather has helped or hindered – the wind and rain has made the days seem rather long and grey, but at least it hasn’t made me wish I was on the archery field!

But as we reach the last week of the lockdown, it is time to think about getting back to shooting, so this weekend would be a good time to check your equipment – make sure that servings and fletchings are all sound and maybe try a few gentle warm-up exercises to get those archery muscles moving again!

The Sign-Up forms for both the outdoor and indoor shooting are now available for dates after the 3rd December, so please feel free to sign up for as many as you like ????

Whilst it will be great just to be able to get back to shooting, it will be even better if we can shoot with a purpose, and there are number of online and postal competitions available for those that would like to shoot them. These include:

– Frostbite postal competition
(3 dozen arrows, shot at 30metres on an 80cm target face with metric scoring)

– Portsmouth postal competition (can be shot indoor or outdoor)
(5 dozen arrows, shot at 20 yards on a 60cm target face with metric scoring)

– AGB ‘January Challenge’ (Entry details yet to be announced)
(Portsmouth round shot indoor or out with scores submitted online to AGB)

– AGB Winter 300 (Entry details yet to be announced)
(30 arrows shot at a Vegas/3-spot face, indoor and outdoor, submitted to AGB)

– AGB 50m Monthly Frostbite challenge (Entry details yet to be announced)
(3 dozen arrows, shot at 50m for Seniors and 30m for Juniors shot on a 120cm target face)

Once we are back into the swing of things, we will share more details of when and how you can take part in these various competitions.

Looking forward to a return to our lovely grounds (I can’t guarantee the sunshine though!)
