It’s time for a Virtual AGM!

0 13

The Club AGM is on Wednesday 28th October.

You may be thinking that it seems to have come around more quickly that usual, and you’d be right! At the last AGM in January this year it was agreed to align our financial, management and shooting years more closely, meaning that the AGM will henceforth be in late October.

When we agreed this change, we had hoped to make it more of a social event, with awarding of trophies from the outdoor season, celebrations of competition successes, personal improvements and memories of a great summer of outdoor shooting. However, Covid has made that very difficult – not only has there been very limited competitive archery over the outdoor season, the current limits on the number of people who can gather, make it impossible for us to have a face to face AGM at all!

However, the committee have decided that it is important to continue with some form of AGM, and have set up the facility for us to run a ‘virtual’ AGM via the wonders of Zoom.

Whilst this is obviously a poor substitute for our traditional format, it does at least mean that we can all meet from the comfort of our own homes!

Our club has weathered the stormy Covid seas very well this year, and will finish the outdoor season with plenty of funds in the bank, a very successful online booking system for daily shooting, a large and involved membership and has even managed to enable some competition to take place!

The business of the AGM will be kept as short as reasonably possible, and your committee would love as many members as possible to log in and take part – this is very much YOUR club, and we want to hear YOUR views!

All committee positions are up for re-election and many of the current post holders are willing to stand again, but if you would like to get involved, why not consider putting yourself forward for a position? Our brilliant club does not run itself, it relies on the dedication and time of the brilliant people on the committee, and it is always great to have fresh ideas and input!

Committee positions are:
– Chair (View job description)
– Secretary (View job description)
– Treasurer (View job description)
– Membership Secretary (View job description)
– Facilities Manager/Armourer (View job description)
– Tournament Secretary (View job description)
– Records Officer (View job description)
– Safeguarding/Juniors Officer (View job description)
– Ordinary Member (View job description)

Reports and minutes from the January AGM will be circulated 2 weeks prior to the 28th.
