GAC Juniors have great fun and success away!
NATIONAL SUCCESS!
The Junior National Outdoor Championships took place at Lilleshall National Sporting Centre on 6th and 7thJuly
This is a huge event featuring over 80 targets and over 300 archers, shooting 12 dozen rounds , WA1440 Metrics on Saturday and Imperial Bristol rounds on Sunday.
Three of our Juniors took on this exciting challenge:-
Callum Methold, shooting as an under 18, shot 770 pts on Saturday – very creditable as A-levels reduced practice opportunities to almost nil!
Matthew Chimbwandira, in his first year of competition , showed great character and determination as he scored 641 pts in the Gents u/16 Metric 2 and 586 pts in the Gents u/16 Bristol.
The experience of the occasion will stand him in good stead for future events!
Lauren Levy came to the event with good recent form – this helped her to take 15th out of 28 in the Ladies u/16 Metric 3, with a score of 1165 pts.
She followed up this achievement on the following day by taking 13th out of 31 in the Ladies u/16 Bristol 3 competition, with a score of 1115 pts.
These scores helped Lauren to achieve Junior Master Bowman classification, for the third time in her career! – CONGRATULATIONS to Lauren, and a huge hat-tip to her inspiring Coach, Sue Watson!
Hopefully, many of our Juniors will take on the JNOC challenge in July 2020, Colin Levy, David Stranks and the coaching team will be delighted to offer insight and advice.
WARFIELD WONDERS!
7 of our GAC Juniors competed at the Bowmen of Warfield Junior Short Metric Open on Saturday 13th July, and they brought away 6 Medals!
In the JSM2,
Lauren Levy took Gold (Ladies)
Ben Hancock-Smith took Gold (Gents)
Joshua Bowden took Silver (Gents)
Matthew Chimbwandira took Novice Gold (Gents)
In the JSM3, Nick Woods took Barebow Novice Gold
In the JSM5 (the most hotly contested category), Sophie Godfrey took Bronze(Ladies), the first of many in her career!
Natasha Godfrey scored 389 pts and lit up the field with her demeanour!
