Hello, and a question on measuring progress

0 6
I am new here and have been lurking for a while so thought I should say hello!
I am also new to archery (unless you count a brief try as a kid, about 40 years ago when I never really got the hang of it!). My wife decided I needed to get out of the house more so booked us both on a beginners course (which we have just finished) and I am finding it strangely addictive and relaxing. :)

Also, being an impatient sort of person, I have just splashed out on my own bow I have already noticed a significant improvement over using the club bow which is reassuring.

Which leads me on to my question......
At the moment I have practiced at 20 meter (80cm target) , 30 meter (80cm target) and 40 yards (122cm target) and am scoring (10 - 1) using the My Target android app. If I remember to think about what I am doing my scores over an evening (10 to 15 ends) are averaging 7.x

That got me thinking - how to give myself targets to improve? I can obviously just track my average scores but they obviously drop every time I increase distance. Is there a better android app that allows me to compare practice scores at specific distances (so I only see rounds at 40 yards for example)?
Alternatively, what about achievement badges? I don't know if my club does them but I came across the 252 badges which, if I understand correctly, give me a badge for achieving better than 7 average. Sounds good except on my scores so far I have already achieved it at 20m, 30m and 40yds. Given my groups still are not great I wonder if going up a distance just to prove I can get a 252 might not be productive yet?

Any wisdom on this subject?
