Competition advice/tips sought

0 9
As some of you know, I have my very first compo in just over a month - The 'Newburn Open' - I'll be shooting a Windsor round.

So I'd like to tap into the combined wisdom of those who've experience of compo shooting generally, and on one thing specifically...

I know we only get 80cm to fit into on the shooting line, but what about a scope?

I've been practicing at the club, and also in the living room (high ceiling, TF!) to try to fit everything into this space but am finding it tricky as I'm a rather chonky chap - think 'sumo' - anyway. What are 'the rules' on scope placement, can the legs of the tripod also straddle the shooting line & do I have to avoid the legs being in someone elses' space? (The legs are more than 80cm at full extension, I can narrow them within that but stability suffers. Also, I'm told there are 4 archers to each boss in 2 details, does this mean I have to take my scope behind the ready line between ends too? It's a b*gg*r to align as it's a cheap 'pod I think it will be too slow if re-setting it has to be in the 4-minute end-time too.

- I think I'll only need the scope for the 60yd end, I can pretty-much just-about see the arrow-fall at 50yds, no problem at 40 yds.

Thanks in advance :D
