COUNTY CHAMPIONS!
The Surrey Junior Open Championships took place at Lintman Archery Club in Ascot on Saturday 1st June. On a hot sunny day, junior archers from all over the region gathered to take on this challenging Record Status WA1440 Round ( 12 dozen arrows at 4 descending distances).
Three of our GAC Juniors took on the challenge, with great success:-
Matthew Chimbwandira, competing in his first record status event, took a creditable 3rd place in the Gents under-16’s Metric II round.
Ben Hancock-Smith did even better, winning the Trophy and Gold Medal , so is now the Surrey County Champion! for Gents under-16’s ( Metric II ).
Lauren Levy also had a brilliant day, winning the Trophy and Gold Medal in the Ladies under-16 (Metric III) competition, with a Personal Best score of 1178 pts – also a Junior Master Bowman Classification score, as well as being Surrey County Champion in her age group!
