Carbon Arrows for Stumping from a Buck Trail Blackhawk 2

0 7
Hi all,

Relative noob to the forums here.

I'm looking for some general guidance on selecting carbon arrows for stumping from a Buck Trail Blackhawk 2 AFB, #32@29" draw.
It's not easy to get a steer on the spine required for carbon arrows, especially at this low draw weight, but as far as I have been able to work out, I'll need a spine of either 500 or 600. Does that seem reasonable? I'll be using Judo points so I need arrows with inserts, and I've heard that fletching carbons is not as easy as they need more prep (although most shafts I've been looking at seem to be wrapped/finished anyway, so as long as the fletching glue doesn't dissolve the wrap/paint there shouldn't be any difference there I'd have thought) but I'm not sure if making up a set is a better option.

The other thing I'm wondering about is the arrow size, as in diameter. This certainly isn't the fastest bow at this draw weight, and I'd probably be looking at 4" feather fletchings which would slow the arrows down more, so would I be best going for the smallest diameter arrows I can, or is that not really relevant? I know wooden arrows are pretty thick and heavy, so the carbons should not drop as much as the woods, but I'm not sure if the diameter makes much of a difference. The woods I shoot are 5/16 with 4" feathers, so I guess as long as the carbons are not of a larger OD than that, I should be ok, right?

Sorry for asking what may be daft questions, but I have a somewhat limited budget, and would like to get the best I can (12 arrows for as far under £100 as I can).

Thanks,
Stefan
