I started compound shooting when a damaged finger took me out of recurve shooting.Compounds were pretty rare in those days, so the few of us who had them were self taught. The bows looked like a recuve bow with the limbs sawn short and wheels fitted. Rests and buttons and sights were straight from recurve too.
Release aids were simple and generally hair triggers.
